According to officials with the Minocqua Police Department, 25 year-old Nora Johnson, of Woodruff, was behind the wheel of a car that struck four other vehicles stopped at the intersection of Highway 51 and Highway J last Sunday. The crash claimed the life of 73 year-old Beverly Drews, of Fremont. Drews’ husband was hospitalized for back fractures. Their son was also hurt in the crash.

Police arrested Johnson on charges of homicide by negligent operation of a motor vehicle. She also faces five charges of injury by negligent use of a dangerous weapon.

Johnson was arraigned in Oneida County Circuit Court Friday. She is due back in court next month.

According to officials with the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department, 50 year-old Thomas J. Hoehn was behind the wheel of a car that crashed on U.S. 8 Sunday. Police say Hoehn was traveling southbound on U.S. 8 west of Highway N in the town of Woodboro, shortly after 1:00 p.m. when the crash occurred. The initial investigation shows that Hoehn’s vehicle left the roadway and struck several trees.

Oneida County Emergency Medical Services, the Oneida County Medical Examiner’s Office, Woodboro First Responders, and Crescent Fire Department officials all responded to the crash. Hoehn was transported to an area hospital after the accident, where he died of his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

According to court documents obtained through Langlade County Circuit Court, 30 year-old Joseph W. Thomas is charged with reckless driving, recklessly endangering safety, and hit-and-run involving great bodily harm. Thomas is accused of hitting 26 year-old Timothy Wissbroeker on July 5.

According to police reports the accident occurred shortly after 12:30 p.m. on State Highway 64 in the Town of Ackley. Vehicle parts found at the scene indicated that the offending vehicle was a 2007-2009 Honda CR-V sport utility vehicle. Wissbroeker sustained head injuries, several spinal fractures, a broken pelvis, a broken leg, and other internal injuries in the crash. He was transported to a Wausau hospital in critical condition, which has since been upgraded to fair.

A judge denied a motion by Thomas to lower his bond. He is due back in court on October 4.

According to officials with the Rhinelander Police Department, 50 year-old Thomas Hoehn, of Chippewa Falls, was killed in a single-vehicle car crash shortly after 1:00 p.m. Sunday. Police say Hoehn was traveling south on County Highway N near Highway 8 in the town of Woodboro when the crash occurred.

Deputies with the Woodboro Sheriff’s Department say Hoehn lost control of his vehicle and veered off the road, striking several trees. Police say, Hoehn was the only occupant of the car.

Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

Woodruff Police Detective Clayton Kreitlow says 23 year-old David W. Brown, of Rhinelander, was a passenger in a northbound cargo van on Highway 47 shortly before 12:30 p.m. Thursday. Police say a minivan driven by 83 year-old Dorthy Herman, of Harshaw, struck a deer while traveling south on the highway, throwing the deer into the air. The deer crashed through the windshield of the cargo van in which Brown was riding.

The van was being driven by 21 year-old Kevin Theisen, of Rhinelander.

Brown was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Theisen was transported to Howard Young Medical Center following the crash, where he was treated and released.

According to officials with the Rhinelander Police Department, the crash occurred shortly before 4:30 Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Coon and Lincoln streets  in Rhinelander. Officer Will Stuart said the man driving the motorcycle was transported by ambulance to Ministry St. Mary’s Hospital following the crash.

The female driver of the minivan was not injured in the crash.

“Right now we’re getting witness statements from other people who had seen the accident,” Stuart said. “We’re talking to the person that was in the van.”

Rhinelander police, fire, and St. Mary’s medical crews were on the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Bicyclist and athlete 26-year old Tim Wissbroecker was training for a triathlon when he was hit on Highway 64 Monday June 5th.   Tim was sent flying off his bike and was left in critical condition on the side of the road until a woman stopped and called and ambulance.   The SUV that hit Wissbroecker continued driving and has yet to be found.

Wissbroecker’s wife, Candice Wissbroecker, decided to set up a $5,000 reward fund to try to find the driver who hut her husband.  She asks anyone with information on the accident to contact police immediately.

According to officials with the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Department, the accident occurred shortly after 5:00 a.m. Sunday on County Road D in the Town of Ettrick. Police say a car driven by 20 year-old Andrew Ziegler, of Melrose, lost control of his vehicle and rolled over. Ziegler was ejected from the car when the vehicle overturned, officials say.

Ziegler was transported by medical helicopter to a La Crosse hospital with head and neck trauma. His passenger, Tory Nerison, sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Police say neither were wearing seat belts at the time.

According to police, 69 year-old Louis C. Costanzo was traveling west in a 1996 Toyota Camry shortly before 2:00 a.m. Thursday when the accident occurred. Authorities say he lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway, and struck a tree about a half-mile west of the Portage exit.

The force of impact caused the Camry to burst into flames, trapping Costanzo in the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Burns Harbor Police Department, Portage Fire Department, and Porter County Coroner’s office assisted at the scene.
