Bicyclist killed in hit-and-run

A 48-year-old bicyclist from rural Kiel, Wis., was killed Saturday morning in a hit-and-run accident in the Town of Meeme, Wis., authorities said. Police said a 39-year-old Kiel resident struck the bicyclist from behind in a pickup truck and did not stop, but was later found and taken to jail pending charges.

The victim was found by a motorist in a roadside ditch, authorities said, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police suspect that the driver was drunk at the time of the accident. The cyclist was wearing reflective clothing and a helmet, authorities said.
