Police Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Accident

Police are investigating a pedestrian accident that resulted in an Avondale man’s death.

According to Wisconsin State Patrol investigators, 41 year-old Avondale resident Kenneth Brown, was at a bar outside of Green Bay with his girlfriend, 42 year-old Marlene Wanek, when the two got in an argument. Police say Brown decided to walk home and Wanek drove to look for him. Brown was walking on East Mason Street when Wanek accidentally hit him with her vehicle.

Wanek appeared in court Monday, though no official charges have been filed. Wanek is out on a $25,000 bond. She will return to court next month.

Wisconsin prosecutors say they are waiting to file charges until the release of toxicology results, to determine her sobriety at the time of the crash. An accident reconstruction team is working to determine the circumstances of the pedestrian accident.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family and friends.
