St. Paul Woman Injured in I-94 Crash

A woman was critically injured in a Rhinelander truck accident Saturday night.

According to officials with the Wisconsin State Patrol, the crash involved a tractor-trailer and a passenger car. The accident occurred on Interstate 94 at milepost 3 shortly before 11:00 p.m. Saturday.  Police say 27 year-old Maiv Tooj Heu Yig Yang, of St. Paul, was driving a 2006 Toyota westbound on I-94 during an ice storm when she was struck by a semi-truck driven by 32 year-old Sakaria Mahamed, of Las Vegas.

Yang was transported by ambulance to Regions Hospital in St. Paul for treatment. She is listed in critical condition.

Mahamed was not injured in the crash.

The Wisconsin State Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
