Victim ID’ed in Rhinelander Auto Accident

A man who was killed Wednesday in a Rhinelander car accident has been identified.

According to officials with the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department, 81 year-old Frank S. Converse was killed in an auto accident Wednesday morning. Authorities say the accident occurred shortly after 8:00 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 8 and Highway 17 South in the Town of Crescent.

Converse’s vehicle passed an Oneida County Highway plow truck at a high rate of speed on the right shoulder, and then crossed over the centerline into oncoming traffic. The vehicle then left the roadway and rolled over.

The initial investigation determined the driver was suffering from a medical condition at the time of the accident and may have caused the accident. The driver’s cause of death was likely due to this medical condition and not from injuries sustained in the accident, according to the Oneida County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The accident remains under investigation by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family and friends.
