Auto Defect Prompts Mazda Recall

Mazda Motor Copr has announced a recall of more than 400,000 vehicles due to an auto defect.

According to officials with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Mazda3 and MazdaSpeed3 vehicle models may feature some windshield wiper motor defects. The vehicles affected by the recall were manufactured between January 7, 2008 and November 28, 2008. Mazda experts say there is a stron possibility that the terminal of the wiper motor in the vehicles can be bent.

The accidental bend can caused the wipers to stop in bad weather conditions, increasing the risk of a car accident.

Jeremy Barnes, a spokesman for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, said Mazda has received more than 130 complaints about the auto defect. Owners of the affected vehicles can receive a free repair of the defect at Mazda service centers.
