2 Injured in Rhinelander Rollover Accident

Two people were injured in a Rhinelander rollover accident Friday morning.

According to officials with the Rhinelander Police Department, the rollover accident occurred shortly after 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 8 and Highway 47 in Rhinelander. Police say an SUV traveling west on Kemp Street ran a red light and crashed into a minivan traveling south on Highway 47.

According to the accident report, the SUV rolled over in the crash injuring its two occupants. Assistant Fire Chief Tom Waydick of the Rhinelander Fire Department said the accident could have been much worse. “In the summertime, the traffic picks up, people are in a hurry,” Waydick said. “They need to slow down and make sure that the lanes of traffic are clear before they proceed.”

The two injured SUV passengers were transported by ground ambulance to Ministry St. Mary’s hospital in Rhinelander for precautionary reasons. No information on the nature or extent of their injuries was immediately available.

The occupants of the minivan refused medical treatment.
