DUI hearing scheduled for Grayslake Police Chief

The Grayslake Police Chief is scheduled to appear in court on May 23 in order to handle his DUI case. The charges are a direct result of an accident that happened on Route 45 last week.

The police chief was responsible for causing a head-on collision, and was noticed to be driving irresponsibly by witnesses in the accident. He was driving with his wife in the vehicle, but no one sustained injuries in the crash. Responding officers asked the man to perform a sobriety test, to which he declined.

He was arrested and charged with allegedly operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, and being armed while under the influence. Once at the police station, he took part in a blood test, and revealed that he had consumed three alcoholic beverages while he was at dinner with his wife.

An investigation into the charges is underway by the Grayslake police department.
