NHTSA adds Dodge Durango SUV to ceiling fire investigation

The Chrysler’s Dodge Durango SUV has been included by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in their investigation of incidents of ceiling fires occurring in these vehicles and Jeep Grand Cherokees, a USA Today report on January 14 stated.

According to reports, the ceiling and visor of the Durango is almost identical to the Jeep Grand Cherokees. In the data gathered and examined by the NHTSA, 52 cases of potential fires and some injuries occurred involving the vehicles. Investigators are closely looking for a potential electrical problem in the vehicles that may be the cause of the ceiling fire. Chrysler on the other hand said that their in-house specialists are doing their own investigations and have been coordinating with the NHTSA.
