Man dead after Highway 83 accident

A male driver who had stepped out of his vehicle was fatally struck by a passing vehicle in the town of Merton on Tuesday, March 11, WISN 12 reported.

According to Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Jennifer Wallschlaeger, an unidentified 42-year-old Waterford man hit a deer on Highway 83 at around 6:00 a.m. The driver apparently got outside of his vehicle and tried to pull the body of the dead deer off the road when an oncoming southbound vehicle struck him. The victim was pronounced dead at Aurora Hospital where he was taken.

The other driver was not injured in the accident.
