Toyota recalls millions of vehicles worldwide

Toyota issued a series of recalls on April 9 that affect 6.39 million older model vehicles worldwide. 1.3 million of the affected vehicles are located in the U.S., an article published by the Washington Post stated.

The automaker said 3.5 million vehicles may have spiral cable that can be broken by the steering wheel, which may result in an airbag malfunction. One of the recalls also affects cars that have seats that may suddenly move on their rails in accidents should the springs break. The other recalls include defective windshield wipers, starter motors, and steering column brackets. The recall affects older versions of the Toyota Corolla, Highlander, Matrix, RAV4, Tacoma, and Yaris.

Toyota said they were unaware of any injuries or accidents involving the affected vehicles.
