U.S. to investigate injuries linked to Takata airbags

Federal authorities stated on June 11 that they will look into some 1.1 million vehicles equipped with potentially dangerous airbags made by Takata, USA Today reported.

The investigation by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) identified seven automaker giants that may have faulty airbags supplied by the Japanese firm. Auto manufacturers stated too much force from the airbag inflator causes the bags to burst and shoot shrapnel-like objects. Both Honda and Toyota issued additional recalls after discovering that the information Takata originally gave them was incomplete. The NHTSA said they knew of at least two deaths and six minor injuries caused by the defective deployment of Takata airbags.

Faulty airbags unfortunately increases the risk of serious injuries to vehicle occupants. If you have experienced this, a lawyer may work for you to hold negligent parties liable for your injuries.
