Ford broadens recall for vehicles with faulty door latches

American auto manufacturing giant Ford recently broadened their recall of vehicles that may have door latch issues, a May 2 article in USA Today reported.

The expanded recall affecting 156,000 vehicles was ordered by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Ford apparently expanded the recall to include vehicles that may have their door swing open during operation due to a faulty pawl spring tab. Complaints of minor injuries and a damaged vehicle linked to the door problem reached the automaker. Ford is now recalling a total of 545,906 with potential door latch issues. Since last year the door latch problem has affected over 1.5 million Ford vehicles.
