American rapper killed in suspected DUI crash

Rapper Dewayne Lawrence Coleman, better known to the public as MC Supreme, was killed after his parked vehicle was struck by an alleged intoxicated pickup truck driver in the Malibu area, Rolling Stone reported on June 15.

According to reports, the car accident happened at 6:22 a.m. on a stretch of California Pacific Coast Highway. Coleman, 47, was reportedly inside his parked vehicle together with another occupant on the side of the road when it was struck by a pickup truck driven by Philip Thomas Torres II. Coleman’s vehicle was forced off the road, while the pickup truck rolled over and struck another vehicle. While Coleman sadly died at the scene of the accident, his passenger was taken to a hospital for treatment of her injuries. Responding authorities initially arrested Torres, 34, on suspicion of drunk driving.

This accident was seen by some as evidence that the motorway desperately needs work to improve its safety.
