Thousands of Ferrari vehicles with faulty airbags recalled

At least 2,600 Ferrari vehicles are being recalled worldwide by its manufacturer due to a potential problem in the drivers’ side airbags that may amplify injuries during car accidents, Business Insider reported on July 20.

According to a spokesperson of the Italian sports car manufacturer, the airbags in the recalled vehicles may launch in an unusual way due to a problem with assembly. If the airbags launch incorrectly, the installed Takata airbags in the Ferrari vehicles may increase the risk of injuries, reports also said. Though Ferrari confirmed that the defective airbags in the affected vehicles were supplied by Takata, the recall is not similar to the recall recently issued by other car companies. At least 800 of the recalled Ferrari vehicles reportedly are in the U.S., the NHTSA confirmed on July 17.
