Over 1M GM trucks with seatbelt issues recalled

American automaker giant General Motors (GM) is recalling approximately 1.04 million makes of the recent models of pickup trucks due to a seat belt problem that can cause harm to occupants during a crash, an article of CNBC reported on April 15.

Reports stated the flexible steel cable seat belt connector on the drivers’ seat may suddenly detach overtime due to repetitive use. Various models of the GMC Sierra 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado were affected in the recall. GM stated they were unaware of any injuries or accidents involving the recalled pickup trucks. To address the problem, GM dealers will either repair or replace the affected seat belt component of the affected vehicles. An estimated 142,000 of the recalled vehicles were sold in other countries.
